SendMoney lets you send money to anyone with a valid South African cellphone number (they don’t even need a bank account). It’s free if you’re sending cash to another TymeBank account holder, otherwise it will only cost you R4. SendMoney is almost instant. The moment you send the money, the person receiving it will get an SMS voucher that they can use to withdraw the cash at any Pick n Pay or Boxer till point in SA.

What SendMoney Costs

  • TymeBank to TymeBank is FREE
  • TymeBank to non-TymeBank is R4 per transaction. This means you need to add R4 to the amount you send or the person getting the money will receive R4 less. So for example, if you send R500, then the person you’re sending it to will get R496 (R500 – R4)

How to send money

To someone who has a TymeBank EveryDay account
  • Login to your account using our Android SmartApp or Internet Banking site and click on SendMoney
  • Enter the cellphone number of the person you’re sending money to and the amount you want to send. (You can send a total of up to R3000 per day)
  • Check that the receiver’s details are 100% right and click Confirm. Once you have made this payment, it can't be reversed
  • The money instantly goes into the receiver’s TymeBank EveryDay account and they get an SMS alert to let them know it’s arrived
To someone who does NOT have a TymeBank account
  • Login to our Android SmartApp or Internet Banking site and click on SendMoney
  • Enter the cellphone number of the person you’re sending money to and the amount you want to send. (You can send up to a total of up to R3000 per day for all our Value Added Services, which include data, airtime and SendMoney)
  • Check that the receiver’s details are 100% right and click Confirm. Once you have made this payment, it can't be reversed
  • The person you’re sending the money to will get an SMS with a 10 digit voucher number, which is valid for 3 years

 

How to receive money that is sent

If you bank with TymeBank
  • The money will appear in your EveryDay account the moment it’s been sent to your cellphone number. You can withdraw the money from any ATM in South Africa for a small fee or withdraw it free of charge from all till points in Pick n Pay or Boxer stores.
If you don't bank with TymeBank
  • You will receive an SMS with a 10-digit voucher number. Take this voucher number to any till point in a Pick n Pay or Boxer store to cash it in.
